Astrological Almanac for Sunday, December 20, 2020

Published by chris on

Tonight at 6:07pm EST Mercury enters Capricorn for the month. It’s a more comfortable place for it than Sagittarius, where Jupiter’s influence can scatter Mercury’s focus. Here Mercury can home in on what really needs doing, studying, editing, selling/buying, etc., and get it done. But for the first few days here, it will still be combust the Sun, so it will take until about the end of the month to be clear enough to enjoy most of these benefits. The positives should increase as the month goes on.

The Moon conjoins Neptune this evening, making for a dreamy, artistic night, especially since her ruler, Jupiter, is no longer restricted in Capricorn.

At 5:02 tomorrow morning, the Sun enters Capricorn, marking the Solstice. Tonight is the longest night in the North, and while the cold will increase for the next couple of months, so will the number of daylight hours.

As we officially enter northern Winter, and Saturn’s two months (Capricorn and Aquarius), we may feel Saturn’s isolation more than ever this year, but more so during Capricorn. By the time the Sun moves into Aquarius, hints at the return of a social life may emerge, along with the lengthening days. In the meantime, it’s good to use the dark time to reflect on what we need to let go and what we need to continue to take with us into the New Year.

Keep your eyes on the western horizon near sundown for the Jupiter and Saturn conjunction, exact on the 21st.
