Astrological Almanac for Sunday, June 20, 2021

(All times Eastern)
Today is the last day of Northern Spring, as the Sun enters Cancer, marking the Summer Solstice at 11:32 pm. Cancer is a cardinal sign, one of beginnings, and is therefore somewhat chaotic. Gemini has been variable (mutable sign), and after Cancer, Leo, a fixed sign, will be more stable as it occupies the middle of the summer season. But for now, the change to the real heat, and the bright days is upon us, and we have to adjust to that energy.
In other longer-term events, Jupiter turns retrograde. He’s retrograde for an average of about 4 months each year, so it’s not very unusual. But it does mean that he’ll make his way backwards out of Pisces and will pass soon back into Aquarius, where he’ll remain until the end of the year. It also increases the likelihood that some of the freer energy that we’ve seen for the past couple of months (generosity, abundance, etc.) may start to slow a bit, and long-term plans based on these things may get put on hold.
Very early this morning, the Moon trines the Sun as she (the Moon) exits Libra. This is a nice energy flow, continues by Luna’s trine to Jupiter around midday. She’ll trigger fiery, combative Mars in the afternoon and then bring that challenging energy to Saturn overnight. So the second half of the day into tomorrow is likely to feel more changeable and even unstable, given the lunar aspects and the Sun’s change to Cancer.
Venus flows nicely with Neptune tomorrow morning, and we will already have felt it by now. This is likely to be a fertile time for artists, and a nice time to snuggle up with your sweetie, especially as today’s aspects fade and this one takes over.
