Astrological Context, Week of July 25, 2022
(All times Eastern)
Mercury has a busy week. They begin by squaring Mars on Tuesday, so be careful about communications and conversations not getting too heated. Choose your words wisely so that you don’t inadvertently piss someone off. On the other hand, if someone needs a tongue-lashing, this might be a good time to do it.
Mercury then squares Uranus on Thursday and opposes Saturn on Sunday. This triggers the lingering Saturn-Uranus square that was exact last year; and while it won’t be exact again this time around, they keep getting very close to be being exactly square, which sets off some challenging situations. The clash between old and new, structure and chaos, stability and disruption starts to feel stronger again. Mercury moving into challenging aspect with both of them will accentuate all of those issues this week, and mess with communications, sales, and other mercurial areas.
Jupiter turns retrograde on Thursday. He spends about 4 months every year retrograde, so this isn’t a huge change, however, those with a lot of Sagittarius and Pisces in their charts may feel a slowing down and possibly a reversal of some things in the next few months.
On Sunday, the Sun in its own sign of Leo trines newly-retrograde Jupiter in Aries, another fire sign. Generally this indicates excellent energy with a strong benefic feel to it. With Jupiter now retrograde, it’s likely to be dialed back a bit, but should still bring some good external energy to the end of the week, if not longer. Next week Mars conjoins Uranus in Taurus on Monday. There will be more in next week’s post, but this can be a strongly upsetting energy that mitigates some of the Sun-Jupiter beneficence.
