Astrological Context, Week of July 4, 2022

Mars leaves Aries on Tuesday for stodgy Taurus. Mars feels somewhat inhibited here in Venus’s sign, so we may feel hesitant and halting for the next six weeks or so. Efforts may be frustrated or slowed down now, which is good for thinking carefully about them, but not as convenient for getting things done.
The only other “active” planet this week is Mercury. On Tuesday, they leave their home base of Gemini and dive into Cancer for the next two weeks. Mercury is moving quite fast now, so their stay in Cancer won’t last very long. This is likely to bring emotions to mind more than before, and we may be inclined to rationalize them. Or alternatively, emotions may cloud our judgment now. In either case, feelings will need to be taken into account along with reason.
Just a few minutes after Mercury’s entry into Cancer, they sextile Mars. This energy will build for a day or so before and linger for a day or so after. We may find that Monday through Wednesday are good for engaging in mental activies, writing, studying, etc., especially if we are moving into areas more connected to feelings.
For the end of the week, Mercury squares Jupiter, which can be another challenging aspect with regards to clarity and reason. Here we have the details and the big picture getting in each others’ way. We may push our mental limits a bit too far. We may also end up putting our foot in our mouths if we speak to quickly or impulsively.
