Astrological Context, Week of June 17, 2024

(All times Eastern)

Remember that these aspects (aside from entry into new signs) will be in effect a few days before and a few days after the exact dates listed here. So keep this in mind when reading the daily updates this week.

Mercury enters Cancer at 5:06am on Monday. They lose some dignity as they leave Gemini, but invite us to combine logic and emotion for a few weeks. Emotional approaches to communication and puzzles dominate now.

Also on Monday morning, Mercury conjoins Venus, making the beginning of the week an excellent time to connect with friends and lovers, especially on an emotional level. It’s a good time to make peace where needed.

On Thursday, the Sun squares Neptune; midweek can be a confusing time publicly and professionally. Watch for deception and confusion in the public sphere. We may also suffer a bit from lack of direction in our own lives.

At 4:50pm on Thursday, the Sun enters Cancer, marking the Summer Solstice and the astronomical beginning of the Summer in the north. This is the longest day/shortest night of the year, and though the hot part of the Summer is yet to come, the daylight will begin to grow shorter from here on out. It’s a good time for focusing on water – swimming, storms, tears – as well as on the height of the Sun.

On Friday, Mercury sextiles Mars, giving us some focused energy near the end of the week.
