Astrological Context, Week of March 20, 2023

(All times Eastern)
Remember that these aspects (aside from entry into new signs) will be in effect a few days before and a few days after the exact dates listed here. So keep this in mind when reading the daily updates this week.
The Sun and Pluto flow together today to help us sort out power and authority issues.
At 5:24pm, the Sun enters Aries, marking the March Equinox – Spring in the northern hemisphere and Fall in the southern. This is the beginning of the astrological year. Aries is a cardinal sign, so change and chaos are to be expected. It’s also a fire sign, so it’s the time of year for a lot of high energy going into new beginnings. Watch for a future blog post for more on the Aries Ingress chart.
On Thursday, Pluto enters Aquarius, for the first time this cycle. In June, he’ll retrograde back to Capricorn until January 2024, then enter Aquarius again, only to head back to Capricorn one more time at the beginning of September. In November 2024, he’ll head back to Aquarius for the rest of his stay there – a 20ish year affair. We’ll see the beginnings of the transformation that he’ll bring to community structures, to intellectual projects like the internet and modern technology, and to human relationships overall.
On Saturday, Mars enters Cancer. This is the sign opposite his exaltation, so here he’s in Fall. This can be a brooding, isolating Mars. But this time it may not feel quite as challenging, since it marks the end of his 7-month stay in Gemini, which has been quite an ordeal for many. He now begins his more normal 2-month-per-sign cycle again.
