Astrological Context, Week of March 21, 2022

(All times Eastern)

Mars squares Uranus on Tuesday, which could spark some real conflict. Both planets are associated with changing energy and suddenness. They are both in fixed signs, which traditionally are unwilling to change, so we’re likely to see some struggles around that, since both are forcing change of some sort. Watch the news this week for issues associated with food production, technology, borders, and war.

At the same time, Mercury conjoins Neptune in Pisces on Wednesday. This is possibly the most confusing, “worst” position for Mercury (unless they were also retrograde). Mercury likes things clear and concise, direct and to the point. Pisces and Neptune are both associated with the vast ocean of the “all.” I often say that there are worse things for Mercury than being merely retrograde. Remember, though, what’s good or bad for a planet is not necessarily good or bad for a person. But our ways of communicating this week is likely to have to get more creative. This could be a highly creative time for artists of all types, if they can get organized enough to produce anything.

Mercury’s sextile to Pluto on Saturday may push us to investigate deep issues, and perhaps hidden ones. Remember that all of these aspects are going on more or less at the same time. So this Mercury is still in Pisces and still under the effects of fuzzy Neptune. It’s a great time for self exploration, but don’t believe anything you discover until it’s been tested over time (i.e., when these transits have passed).

Mercury leaves Pisces for Aries on Sunday the 27th, and we may feel an almost immediate clearing of the fog. It will be a good few weeks for mentally pursuing new ideas, and for new business inspirations.

Next Monday, Venus conjoins Saturn, asking for more commitment and perhaps not finding it. In this case, feelings of loneliness and isolation may be present. If the commitment is welcome, it’s a good time to sign contract and seal deals.
