Astrological Context, Week of May 15, 2023

(All times Eastern)

Remember that these aspects (aside from entry into new signs) will be in effect a few days before and a few days after the exact dates listed here. So keep this in mind when reading the daily updates this week.

There’s a lot of action this week. As of just before midnight, Mercury is direct again. On Monday, Mars and Neptune come together in a way that supports our putting energy into our dreams, whether personal or communal, or causes we support.

On Tuesday, Jupiter enters Taurus for much of the year. There will be some growth around issues of the Earth, food production, and farmers. Later in the year as Jupiter conjoins Uranus, there may be some reversals, upsets, or perhaps revolutionary developments. On Wednesday, Jupiter squares Pluto, so there could be some shake ups in finance along the way.

Thursday is good for business or other long-term planning as Mercury sextiles Saturn, and Thursday we revisit our professional goals and dreams as the Sun sextiles Neptune.

On Saturday, Mars leaves Cancer, where he’s been quite uncomfortable, and enters Leo, where he’s much freer to express his fiery energy. At times, this can be very stubborn energy, and conflicts may have a hard time being resolved for these couple of months. As he enters Leo, he opposes Pluto, so look for increased power struggles this week, without much relief to be had.

On Sunday, the Sun enters Gemini at 3:09am. This marks the beginning of the end of the spring in the north (and of the fall in the southern hemisphere). There’s a lot of flexibility now as the gentleness of the spring gives way to the heat of the summer, and as things that follow an academic calendar come to an end and we focus more on the social aspects of life.
