Astrological Context, Week of May 9, 2022

(All times Eastern)
Mercury, who has been slowing down, turns retrograde in Taurus on Tuesday at 7:47 am for their usual 3-ish week stint. Even after turning direct on June 3, they will take a while to get moving again, so plan ahead. Be patient with yourself and others now; even if you are not experiencing direct effects, others in your life may be. Double check all details and plans now, and while it’s not possible to put off everything, if you can, try to avoid major paperwork now.
On Tuesday evening, Jupiter leaves his own Pisces for Aries, where he’s still fairly comfortable, if not totally at home. He’ll return to Pisces (by retrograde) this fall for a couple of months, but spends the bulk of the year in Aries. Wherever Aries falls in your chart should be an area of expansion and optimism this year, though Jupiter can also have his downsides (too much of something).
Next Sunday afternoon, the Sun squares Saturn while also sextiling Neptune. This is likely to feel like a few days of challenges and blocks in public life or reputation, couple with a feeling of optimism despite the difficulties. It’s better to wait until next week if you’re trying to make a career move now, since the obstacles are likely to win out over the optimism.
Just after midnight Sunday (early Monday morning), there is a lunar eclipse in Scorpio, which is the companion to the solar eclipse recently in Taurus. If you have planets at the end of the fixed signs (Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius, Leo), you are likely to experience some stress in those areas of life represented by the house in your chart where those signs are found. It may also indicate a time of beginnings and endings in those areas.
