Astrological Context, Week of October 7, 2024

(All times Eastern)
Remember that these aspects (aside from entry into new signs) will be in effect a few days before and a few days after the exact dates listed here. So keep this in mind when reading the daily updates this week.
On Tuesday morning, Venus trines Mars, and Mercury trines Jupiter. Venus-Mars and Mercury-Jupiter are often seen as complementary pairs, each somewhat opposite in significance. The trine brings each pairing together in harmonious ways. Relationships, creative efforts, focused work, communications, sales, studying, and more should all be fairly smooth today. Monday and Tuesday are good days to do whatever you need or want to.
On Wednesday, Jupiter turns retrograde. It’s not that big a deal, since he spends 4 months of each year that way, but those with heavy Pisces and/or Sagittarius placements may feel the slowdown for the next few months. Also, whatever part of your chart has those signs on it, as well as Gemini (where Jupiter is now) will feel the delays. See your astrologer for more personalized details.
Next Sunday, Mercury squares Pluto and then slides into Scorpio. This can bring a weekend of stubborn digging in of heels on issues that are important to us. Be careful now, since it’s hard to see others’ points of view and easy to get stuck in our own way of thinking.
The same day, the Sun trines now-retrograde Jupiter. This is still a nice aspect, bringing recognition and public acclaim, though perhaps a bit less now than when Jupiter is direct.
