Astrological Context, Week of September 30, 2024
(All times Eastern)
Remember that these aspects (aside from entry into new signs) will be in effect a few days before and a few days after the exact dates listed here. So keep this in mind when reading the daily updates this week.
There are just a few non-lunar planetary aspects this week, but it includes a solar eclipse, which is pretty big by itself.
On Monday, Mercury crosses the Sun in Libra. Usually being close to the Sun is a disadvantage (you’re overwhelmed by the Sun’s light), unless you are within about a quarter degree from exact. This is the case on Monday from about 8:30am ET until a little after midnight. This makes for a good time to do all things Mercury: sign papers, study, do divination, communicate, etc.
On Wednesday afternoon at 2:45 is the height of the solar eclipse (New Moon) in Libra. This will be visible mostly in the South Pacific and the southernmost part of South America. It takes place at 10 Libra, so those with planets or sensitive points near that or 10 Aries (opposite) are likely to feel the effects for the next few months. Wherever Libra is in your chart is also likely to have a spotlight on those issues. (Consult with your astrologer for your details.) This particular eclipse has the Sun/Moon conjunct a fairly dignified Mercury, square to a debilitated Mars on the Descendant. Mars is cranky in Cancer and is likely to sour interactions here. So in general, it’s not a “nice” eclipse. There’s no mitigating aspect that makes it a bit better.
On Friday, Venus trines Saturn, which is a nice stabilizing energy for relationships of all sorts. It’s a time when what we’ve been waiting for may finally happen. Venus isn’t in a great position in Scorpio, so results may be somewhat limited, but in all, it’s pretty good.
On Sunday, Mercury squares Mars, which can bring some arguments and verbal sparring in general. Be careful of cruelty now. Deception is also possible, though a bit less likely.
